The college recruiting process starts really early due to the increased competition and the flexibility of the regulations imposed by NCAA. Studen-athletes have to better prepare themselves in order to be seen by the college coaches. Everything from grades, online resume, video highlights, competition level and everything in between has to be clearly outlined. Once players have a plan and a strategy in place the key to getting recruited is to understand what to do, how and when to do it. It’s no easy task by with a little research the college recruiting process can become more fun.
Each sport is different but the ultimate goal is the same. Many times is about the right strategy and timing when looking to find the right college fit. Of course, players and parents have to be realistic about their athletes’ playing level. The goal for every student-athlete should be to find a school where they enjoy going even if they weren’t to play their sport. Going to college is not a four year choice, it’s a lifetime decision. Let’s hope the NCAA will step in soon to slow down the early recruiting process and give everyone a fair chance regardless the school’s conference, sport, level or athlete’s abilities.
