Happy 29 Birthday To The Greatest Ever, Lionel Messi

  • 24 Jun, 2016

There have been many great soccer players and true legends of the game that the world has seen over the last decades. There are people who may easily argue that Pele or Maradona were the greatest soccer players of all times. We all have different opinions and as time goes on, everything will have more clarity but the tricky part is that new starts will rise.  As far as I am concerened in my opinion, Lionel Messi is the best soccer player that I have ever seen. Why? Despite all the records and trophies that he has won and his deadly left foot and dribbling qualities that can easily put defenders at sleep, he’s got a great attitude and character. This allows him to stay grounded and focus on wining games, braking records and creating his own legacy that people will talk for many years to come.

Messi has managed to be very consistent in his performances and I am sure that the “rivalry” against Cristiano Ronaldo has helped both players elevate and take their game to another level. There is no third player that has consistently chased Messi and Ronaldo over the last decade. So, I strongly believe that in a way Messi and Ronaldo have made themselves better by forcing themselves to push their limits. As fans of the game, we all love the competition, hunger and hustle that comes from those two players. To be honest, I am not sure we will ever see another two players dominating the world of football for so many years in a row so clearly.

Lionel Messi In Action

So far Messi has won numerous individual and team trophies. I am sure he won’t stop here. We can’t ignore the fact that he also had great teammates and coaches around him but that doesn’t take away from his talent. It only makes it more valuable. So far he’s won:

  • FC Barcelona all time top goal scorer.
  • Eight La Liga Titles.
  • Four Champions League Titles.
  • Five Time Ballon D’Or Award Winner.
  • Four Time Cope Del Rey Champion.
  • Argentina’s All Time Top Goal Scorer.
  • The only player who scored over 300 goals in La Liga.
So what’s next? Well, time will tell but I am sure for now Messi’s focus is on the upcoming Copa America final game when Argentina will face a very strong and fast Chile team on Sunday.

Argentina

Today, Lionel Messi turns 29 years old and regardless if he will win the Copa America or a World Cup, he will still be the greatest for me and many others fans of the beautiful game. Thank you Argentina and FC Barcelona for offering us such a great gift to watch and enjoy.

Happy 29 Birthday to the greatest ever soccer player, Lionel Messi.

I truly hope the “Atomic Flea” will win the Cope America and a World Cup just because of the simple fact that he deserves it but it doesn’t mean he will win them as many factors have to be in place. So, if   you are a fan of Lionel Messi or not, please keep in mind that one day after he retires we will look back and miss all his magic. So until that day comes, let’s all be respectful fans of the beautiful game and admire Lionel Messi as he creates his own legacy. All I can say for now is:

Thank you for the great memories and I can’t wait to see how much further you’ll go.
