In todays’ world where the internet can give everyone the power to express themselves, it’s very important that your are promoting yourself with a positive image. It takes a long time to build a trusted reputation and it can only take a few minutes to ruin it forever.
When you promote yourself, be careful what you write, post and comment online. There is no second chance so overtime you feel like the world goes against you, just take a deep breath, stay composed and don’t express your anger and frustrations online. It’s not about what happens to you but rather how you react to it. Your emotions and reactions will ultimately define your character.
You want coaches, clubs and everyone around you to know you for your strengths while you are constantly working on improving on your weaknesses. I know you can do it but it’s a lot of work.
Once you master your skills, you want to promote yourself and show others about your potential. There are some players who had decent talent but they have been able to promote themselves so effectively in front of their targeted audience that their efforts have payed tremendously.
How can anyone know of you if they have never seen you play? If you are not a top athlete on your team or in your state, your chances of getting notice will be slim to none. There is a school and team for everyone, but you need to find it first. How? You need to be proactive and promote yourself effectively. A lot of student-athletes fall short of playing at the college level because they never tried to promote themselves, or talk to the college coaches. It takes courage, confidence and effort to make it happen and get a fair shot of making it to the college level or even the pros. It’s never easy but it’s always rewarding for those who make it. And those that try and don’t make it, that’s OK because they will move on with no regrets.
Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity or timing. It will not happen. NOW is the best time to START. Just start with something and build on from there. You will be amazed to see what you can accomplish if you have patience and perseverance. Don’t get discouraged if you feel like you haven’t got a fair chance. If you want it bad enough, you will find a solution to get it. It’s simple but it comes down to your mindset.
